HER STORY
We met on Houseparty during the pandemic, then moved to FaceTime and endless Ludo games filled with laughter. He swears he won my heart through Ludo, but really, it was his consistency.
Even from Canada, he made an effort asking his brother to take me out in Dallas since he couldn’t be there himself. He never hid his feelings, even when I kept saying, “I’m not doing long distance oh.” His reply? “You never know unless you try.” Persistent Abidemi would casually say, “One day, I’ll marry you.”
Thanksgiving 2020, my mum overheard him on FaceTime boldly calling her “my mother-in-law” when we weren’t even dating! I prayed about it in December, and in January 2021, I finally agreed to give us a shot. His face lit up like the happiest man alive. Our first date in Miami kicked off what he calls The Abi & Abi Show.
Long distance wasn’t easy, but love found a way. He moved from Canada to the U.S., and now here we are. I’m marrying my best friend, comedian, and cheerleader. I pray Allah grants us patience, joy, blessings, and a blissful life together.
Oh, and for the record, I won the Ludo games. I have receipts 😎

HIS STORY
We met during the COVID lockdown on Houseparty. What started as random chats and endless Ludo battles (she’ll tell you she always won 😅) quickly turned into daily check-ins. I was in Toronto, she was in Texas. Miles apart but growing closer every day.
When she moved to New Mexico for residency and I considered joining the police force in BC, she was my biggest supporter, even when things didn’t work out. I’ll never forget calling her at dawn after missing my flight. I was ready to give up, but she was there to support. Her calm always steadied me.
Our first in-person meeting was in Miami after months of FaceTimes. I laughed when I realized she was actually short (something she always joked about), but none of that mattered. Meeting her just confirmed everything I already felt. She’s small in height but huge in heart, personality, and presence.
And now, here we are. I get to marry my person.
